The commercial laundry business has many different facets to it: staff, customers, purchasing, machinery. These aspects make it appealing to a variety of people with different skills.
It is perfect for:
- A tradesperson or builder, who is able to do a lot of maintenance him/herself. That could be an electrician, engineer, carpenter, gasfitter, handyman - anyone with a good hand at repair and maintenance.
- The managing type. We come from quite a different background, but have managed people for many years. With 20 staff it is a great skill to have.
- A person with a strong administrative, executive and managerial background. Of course you can have somebody doing all the work for you. But sometimes it is good to have a thorough understanding of what exactly it is they are doing for you.
- A group of people with all these skills. Maybe you have run a business together before, or you want to give it a go.
Do the numbers
This business is a going concern, a turn-key operation. There is cash through the till every day, which will help you to pay the wages from the first day onwards. If you have half the purchase price, and borrow the rest from the bank, you may well be able to afford this business. It's time to have a chat with your bank.

Why we are selling
It was about three years ago that we sat
under a palm tree, and wondered what next. Through a string of unusual
circumstances we got to paradise. We needed an excuse to stay before our permits expired.
It was
Snowbird! We have loved the work. Every day has made us be better
people than we thought we were.
But then we heard this rumble about New Zealand’s
superannuation. We found it’s true: New
Zealand’s national superannuation requires that the superannuitant resides in NZ for five
years between the age of 50 and 65. If not - then it’s no super.
Matthew is born and bred New Zealander,
and already has done around 30 years payment
into the superfund. He turned 51 last year, and however little as it may turn
out to be when it happens – he’d rather have it than not. Now is the
time; Matt is still
relatively fit and healthy. The present is the best time to start.
We will go to NZ, and become eligible for
superannuation.
After just under three years of wonderful
sunshine and friendly people, we regret having to leave these beautiful
shores.
But: Doing it sooner rather than later leaves the option for us to return and do it all
again!
We have listed the laundry for sale. For
